Battle of the Brains!

History

The first World Quizzing Championship took place at Villa Park in England in 2003. Forty-two people attended and was won by Olav Bjortomt.

Jane Allen, Chris Jones and Mark Labbett ran the event, which was met with considerable scepticism at the time. It was originally going to be a British Championship but Jane figured that we might as well set our sights high and create a World Quizzing Championships. And so we did.

The following year, Steven De Ceuster (Belgium), Siva Krishnapillai (Malaysia) who had both attended the first WQC, along with Arko Olesk (Estonia) and Anurakshat "Doc" Gupta (India) also joined in by holding simultaneous events in their countries.

From humble beginnings, the event has grown every year and now truly is global.

But there's still more to do. MUCH more to do!
